What Saudi projects have in common, and where Arkan fits
Saudi Arabia combines large public programmes with private development, and the requirements differ by project owner and region. The points below are general background; your contract and the relevant authority decide what applies.
Permits, tenders and codes
Building permits are processed through the municipal system (the Balady platform), government tenders are run through the Etimad platform, and the Saudi Building Code sets technical requirements. Arkan does not connect to these platforms or ship authority templates. It gives your team one place to keep the approvals, correspondence and inspection records that your project needs to show.
VAT and e-invoicing
VAT in Saudi Arabia is 15% (raised from 5% in July 2020), and the tax authority also sets e-invoicing requirements. Those obligations belong in your accounting system. Arkan's payment request preview shows retention, advance payment recovery and VAT, but it does not issue tax invoices.
Contract forms
Projects use FIDIC-based conditions or the owner's own forms, often with substantial amendments. Because Arkan's approval workflows are configurable, you can set them up to follow the review and approval steps in your contract. Your contract administrator remains responsible for how clauses apply.
Arabic first for site and client teams
Arabic is the official language, and clients, authorities and site supervisors often work in it. Arkan has a full Arabic (right-to-left) and English interface, so mixed teams can use the same project record. Arkan's team is based in the UAE (Dubai head office, Sharjah office); we do not claim a Saudi office.
