Punch List: Common Questions

Is a punch list the same as a snag list?

Yes. "Snag list" is the usual term in the UAE and the UK, "punch list" in the US. Both mean the list of defects and incomplete work to close before handover.

What does each snag record?

Location, trade, priority (Low to Critical), a required due date, the responsible company and assignee, and photos (images up to 10 MB each), plus comments and an activity timeline.

How is closure controlled?

Items move from Open to In Progress to Resolved, and can only be closed from Resolved; Closed means verified and accepted. A closed item cannot be reopened, and overdue items are flagged in red with an Overdue Items count.

Can I assign snags to subcontractors?

Yes. Each item is assigned to a company, then to a person in that company, and can be reassigned when responsibility moves between subcontractors.

Which reports can I export?

Summary and item-level reports export to CSV and PDF, and items can be managed on a Kanban board.
